Shimano SLX spinning rod

Description

The Shimano SLX lure rod range has been selected from the Shimano American Bass line up, where it has proven to be an outstanding performer across a wide range of methods. Offering remarkable value, the Baitcasting models cosmetically match the hugely popular SLX Baitcasting reels, whilst the Spinning models match with the Nexave Spinning reels. If you are looking for a combination of great value, modern looks and versatile performance from your next lure rod, you have to check out the SLX.

Hugely popular with American Bass anglers, the SLX comes in a wide range of Baitcasting and Spinning options, which are also perfectly suited to European predator species using a wide variety of lure techniques. Cosmetically they match the SLX or Nexave reels, so depending on your preference, you can have a coordinated combo that not only looks brilliant on the bank, it won’t cost a fortune either.

The full carbon blank of the SLX has a wonderful playing action which is enhanced with Shimano Diaflash* in the bottom part of the butt section. This is useful in the lighter models, especially when playing large, powerful fish that are testing your tackle to the maximum. All models are fitted with Shimano Hardlite guides, which are light, strong and perfectly suited to mono and braided mainlines. To enhance performance further and complement the modern appearance, an ergonomic Custom VSS style reel seat blends perfectly into the blank of the Spinning rods, whilst the Casting rods use a Custom ECS design with a carbon locking collar.

There are 8 Spinning models to choose from, all with extra-fast actions for pin-point casting performance of light and medium lures, whilst the Baitcasting range is even larger with 13 models, offering a variety of actions from as light as 5-10g up to a muscle flexing 30-120g powerhouse.

* DIAFLASH is a reinforced structure that prevents twisting of the butt section in situations where high-intensity is applied, for example during casting and fighting with fish. Due to the effect of DIAFLASH it becomes possible to convey the pulling power of the angler to the target fish while minimizing the loss of energy by flexing of the butt section.

With a casting rod, you fish using a multiplier reel or an enclosed reel. The reel is mounted on top of the rod, and a trigger on the underside of the reel seat provides better stability and grip during fishing. Casting rods are especially popular for heavier fishing, like pike, but have recently gained popularity for lighter fishing too. The casting weight of the rod determines which type of fishing it’s suited for.
