In short: 110-115 mm – Competition angler’s favorite. 125-130 mm – All-round auger. 150-160 mm – Popular for trout, rainbow and char fishing. 200–250 mm – Zander, burbot, and pike fishing.

Max ice thickness Max ice thickness means how far down into the ice you can drill before the auger’s handle stops it.' For example, an ice auger with a max ice thickness of 100 mm means you can drill down to a maximum of one meter.
