Shimano Curado DC baitcasting reel grey

Description

Shimano Curado DC is a brand new reel that features a DC braking system in a lower price range. The I-DC4 braking system helps the angler cast better and reduces the risk of spool overrotation, which leads to line tangles. The reel has a total of 6 + 1 bearings that, combined with MicroModule (gears/gearbox), make the reel operate incredibly smoothly. Thanks to the Magnumlite spool + Superfree spool system and the I-DC4 braking system, the 150 size allows you to cast and fish with small baits for bass, perch, or zander with ease, while the 200 size is perfect for heavier baits. Curado DC is one of the sharpest reels for crankbait fishing in this price range. With its X-Ship technology, even the smaller 150 reel can handle higher forces and can be used to fish larger baits for pike, but if your main goal is to target larger predators, the 200 size is recommended.

*DC stands for Digital Control and is a microprocessor in the reel that senses and brakes the reel up to 1000 times per second. The DC function almost eliminates the need to think when casting and eliminates the risk of backlash. Curado DC reel offers multiple settings, such as the type of line you are using, whether it's braided line, monofilament, or fluorocarbon, as well as a mode for casting in strong headwinds.

Shimano Curado DC 150/151 is optimal for all perch fishing with rods from 6 feet and up, and it is also suitable for downsizing when targeting pike. Curado DC 150 is available in both right and left-hand versions and two gear ratio variations: HG (High Gear) 7.4:1 and regular 6.2:1.

Shimano Curado DC 200/201 is ideal for all pike fishing with rods from 6 feet and up. Curado DC 200 comes in both right and left-hand versions and two gear ratio variations: HG (High Gear) 7.4:1 and XG (Extra High Gear) 8.5:1.

Gear ratio

What is gear ratio?
The term gear ratio, or 'gear ratio' in English, is a value that indicates how many laps around the reel’s spool the line goes per crank. A normal gear ratio is around 5.0:1 and up, meaning the spool rotates five times per crank. A fast gear ratio (high speed) is typically around 6.5:1, meaning 6.5 spool rotations per crank. Such a reel can be great when fishing for sea trout on the coast, as trout often like a bit of speed on the lure. In modern spin fishing, there are also reels with super-fast gear ratios, over 7.5 spool rotations per crank, used with certain lures that benefit from being fished very quickly.

Are you a beginner and want better control over the lure you’ve cast? Use a reel with a slightly lower gear ratio, around 5.0:1.

7.4:1
Line retrieved per crank

Refers to how many centimeters of line are wound onto the spool per crank. The higher the gear ratio on the reel, the faster you retrieve the line.

79 cm
Line capacity (diameter - length)

Refers to how many meters of line of a certain diameter (mm) the spool can hold.

0.330 mm x 100 m
Line included

Whether the reel comes with pre-spooled line or not. If the line is included, just unpack your gear and start fishing!

Not Pre-Spooled
Spool material

Refers to the material the spool itself is made of.

Casted alu
Max drag capacity

The maximum number of kilos the reel can brake. The more kilos the reel can handle, the more powerful the drag. When casting heavy lures, like in heavier pike fishing, you want the reel to handle at least 10 kilos of braking strength.

Rod type

Refers to which type of rod this product pairs with. The most common rod types are spinning rods and casting rods. Casting rods pair with trolling reels, saltwater reels, low-profile reels, and baitcasting reels. Spinning rods pair with spinning reels.
