Diameter of ice augers The diameter of an ice auger indicates how large the hole will be when you drill with it; the size is specified in millimeters. In short: 110-115 mm – Competition angler’s favorite. 125-130 mm – All-round auger. 150-160 mm – Popular for trout, rainbow and char fishing. 200–250 mm – Zander, burbot, and pike fishing.
