The requirement to be classified under ISO 15027-1 class D is not to lose more than 2°C of body temperature over two hours in 10°C water. The test results for FLADEN averaged only 0.7°C. A flotation suit acts as protection against the initial cold shock and then functions as a wetsuit as the water inside warms up from body heat. The garments are made of a lightweight and flexible material for optimal comfort and mobility, while being wind and water repellent.
