For jig or dropshot fishing, a more sensitive rod with a responsive tip is often preferred to maintain good contact with the jig and detect cautious bites. At the same time, some backbone in the rod helps you move the jig effectively in the water. The length of a jig rod depends on the situation and personal preference, but 7’ is a standard length, with casting weights typically around 5-20g.
