The choice of a telescopic or travel rod is usually guided by casting weight and rod length. For lighter fishing, like perch or trout, a rod with a casting weight of 5-15g and a length up to 7’ is recommended. For all-round fishing, such as perch, zander, or sea trout, a rod with a casting weight of 10-40g and a length around 7-9’ works well. A telescopic rod is very easy to set up, while a travel rod offers slightly better feel and durability.
